Obituary

David Martin Kerstiens, 66 of Sterling passed away in his home on October 22, 2021. Burial will take place immediately after the service and take place at the Haxtun Cemetery.

Dave was born January 23, 1955, in Denver, Colorado to Dennis Kerstiens and Violet (Noble) Kerstiens.  Dave attended and graduated High school in Simla, Colorado where he spent most of his years growing up. Dave married Barbara Davidson on March 17, 1973.  Thomas Kerstiens was born of that unity.  During that time, they continued to live in Simla, Co where Dave worked for Nichole Tillage Tools. They were divorced in 1976.  He continued to reside in Simla for some time then moved to Sterling, Co.  Dave then united with Tammy Holbeck and of that unity came Casandra (Kerstiens) Rosling. Dave married Donna Kerstiens on May 16, 1987.  Donna brought with her two girls, Tanya (Wengert) Mayhew and Tina (Wengert) Ramos and born of that unity was Tracy (Kerstiens) Kalous.

During most of this time, Dave worked for Excel Beef Plant, where he spent his time until he retired.  Dave and Donna spent many years together and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and spending time at the lake and most of all spending time with family.  Hosting barbeques on the back deck was one of Dave's favorite events.  Dave loved having all the family around him and loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The more chaos the better.

Dave is preceded in death by his wife Donna and parents, Dennis Kerstiens and Violet (Noble) McKay.

Dave is survived by his children, Thomas (Cathy) Kerstiens of Canon City, CO, Tanya (Jason) Mayhew of Haxtun, CO, Tina Ramos of Sterling, Casandra (Nathan) Rosling of Roggen, CO, Tracy Kalous of Sterling, Jim (Sandy) Tucker of Kiowa, CO, Tim (Sandra) Tucker of Corpus Christi, TX, Tami (Rob) Wilcox of Cheyenne, WY, Brandi (Mark) Kuntze of Westminster, CO, Melody (Johnnie) Williams of Clearwater, FL and Jennifer (John) Shaver of Fort Morgan, CO; thirty-three grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Mary) Kerstiens of Windsor, Colorado and Dee Kerstiens of Canon City, Colorado and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
