Darrell Allen Slater, 58, of Sterling, passed away March 23, 2013, in Sterling. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Young officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.

Darrell was born Oct. 29, 1954, in Sterling to Guy Wilbur and Beatrice Louise (DeHaven) Slater. He graduated from Iliff High School in 1972.

Darrell was a truck driver through the years, as well as a farmer and rancher.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved riding horses and hunting.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Shirley Bohler of Sterling; sons, J.R. Buehler-Bohler and wife Lynnette of Sterling, Paul Christner of Sterling, Kenner Schmitte and wife Paula of Sterling; daughters, Sherrie Quint and husband Mike of Sterling and Lisa Crowder and husband Eldon of Fort Morgan; brothers, Dean Slater of Iliff, Kenneth Slater and wife Loretta of Lansing, Mich., Keith Slater and wife Joann of Sterling; five grandchildren, Kiersten, Scotty, Ashley, Morgan and Mace; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
