Darold E. Propp, 58, of Sterling, entered eternal life Dec. 7, 2011, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Bigler III officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Garden.
Darold Eugene Propp was born Aug. 29, 1953, in Sterling, the son of Clarence and Elsie (Jensen) Propp.
After graduating from Iliff High School and Northeastern Junior College, Darold continued his study of business and accounting at UNC in Greeley. He worked on the family farm in rural Iliff for many years before moving to Sterling and becoming a bookkeeper for several businesses, including the Holiday Inn and Bill's Motors.
As a youth, Darold was active in 4-H, especially enjoying showing rabbits, and assisted with athletics at Iliff High School. For many years, Darold helped announce the livestock show at the Logan County Fair. He was an avid fan of all sporting events at NJC and was awarded the Lowell Roumph Spirit Sportsmanship Award in 2008.
Darold was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Sterling.
He is survived by one brother, Larry Propp and wife Pam of Sterling; one niece, Erin Propp Long and her husband Rob of Hayden; and one great-niece, Brianna Snow Long, also of Hayden. Other survivors include two uncles, Harold Propp of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Harley Jensen and wife Gladys of Hay Springs, Neb., as well as many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Elsie Propp; an uncle, Arthur Propp; and two aunts, Carol Propp and Patty Propp.
