Danny Glover, 59, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010. He was at home, surrounded by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion on U.S. Highway 6, at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26.

Danny was born on March 29, 1950, to Ray and Catherine (O'Connor) Glover. The third of five children, he was raised in Sacramento Calif. He graduated in January 1968 with Rio Americano High School's first graduating class.

On Feb.12, 1968, Dan enlisted in the United Stated Coast Guard where he became an Aviation Survival Man and flew many air search and rescue missions in the Gulf of Mexico. He achieved the rank of E-5 during his tenure.

His military highlights include performing Honor Guard detail for the Dwight Eisenhower and Bobby Kennedy funerals, and Richard Nixon's inauguration. He also served as a member of the first crew on the initial voyage of USCG Cutter RUSH.

Danny worked at Mather Air Force Base as an egress jettison systems mechanic. He went on to earn his associate's degree in construction management at American River College. Danny was the head of the commercial glass division for the American Glass Co. of Sacramento and later became a journeyman tree trimmer for the Sacramento Municipal Utility Dept.

Danny met his wife, Mary (Stewart) July 1982 in Coalinga, Calif. They moved to Colorado in July 1983 and to Sterling in 1984. Danny started KD Property Maintenance in April 1986. He completed all but the on-the-job training portion of the Landscape and Turf Management Program while working for NJC.

He and Mary married on Sept. 19, 1986, in Sterling and continued this business for 25 years. In June of 2009, he learned he had advanced colorectal cancer.
