Obituary

Visitation Wed., Dec. 8, 2010 Damian Joseph Lederhos, 88, of Sterling, died Dec. 5, 2010, in Sterling. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Vigil service and recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Lederhos was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Victoria, Kan., to Joseph and Margaret (Wittman) Lederhos. He graduated from Park High School in Park, Kan.

On April 3, 1948, he married Katherine Klausner at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Denver. They were married for 50 years.

The family wanted to find a small town with a parochial school, so in 1949 they moved to Sterling and he started his own business, Modern Floors.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1336. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, boating, playing cards and gardening. He was a people person and loved to socialize.

Mr. Lederhos is survived by his daughters, Margaret Erker and husband Scott, Teresa Schmitt and husband Bryan, Mary McClanahan and husband Gary, Donna Lederhos and husband Patrick; sons, Thomas Lederhos and wife Angie, Harold Lederhos and wife Sallie, Robert Lederhos and wife Mary, James Lederhos, Joe Lederhos and wife Sherry, Paul Lederhos; brothers, James, Clarence and Joseph Lederhos; sisters,Juanita Kerstiens, Josepha Smith, Esther Burge, Lela Neidig, Jeanette Svenson, all of the Denver area; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine Lederhos in 1998; and two brothers, Donald and Gilbert Lederhos.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Plains or St. Anthony Catholic School.
