Constance Yapp, 82, of Sterling, died Feb. 3, 2007, in Sterling. There was cremation. Private family inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Constance was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Arthur E. and Laura (Burlingame) Magnuson. She attended schools in Sioux Falls, and graduated from high school in May 1942.
From June 1942 to May 1945, she attended nurses training at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. She became a Registered Nurse in May 1945. Constance began her career at McKennan Hospital in May 1945, where she worked as a private duty nurse. She then worked for three months in Pontiac, Mich., and for three months at Stanford University Hospital in San Francisco. She next was the charge nurse in operating rooms at Childrens Hospital in Denver until May 1947.
On May 3, 1947, she married William "Jim" Yapp in Sioux Falls. They then moved to Sterling.
Constance was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Elbridge Gerry Chapter of DAR. She enjoyed genealogy, reading, gardening, playing her organ and singing in the church choir. She was a charter member of Sweet Adelines, Windsong Chapter.
She also enjoyed traveling in Europe, Canada and the United States with her sister, Marjorie Anne Wineberg of Ardmore, Pa., and with Sweet Adeline Chorus in the U.S.
Constance is survived by her son, David Yapp of Sterling; sister-in-law, Shirley Magnuson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Yapp in July 2003; daughter, Laurel Griego; and sister, Marjorie Anne Wineberg.
Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church. Chaney-Reager Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
