March 5, 1930 - Feb. 24, 2008

Clara M. Harmon, 77, of Sterling, died Feb. 24, 2008, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 29, at Chaney Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Chaney-Reager. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Harmon was born March 5, 1930, to Del Bigelow and Dorcas (Zumbrunnen) Bigelow in Crawford, Neb. She was raised on the family ranch in Harrison, Neb., and graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison in 1947. She attended college in Chadron, Neb.

On May 31, 1945, she married Donald L. Harmon in Alliance, Neb.

She was a long-time resident of Sterling, having moved from Alliance, Neb., in 1960 with her husband and her two sons.

Mrs. Harmon devoted the majority of her life to raising her family. She particularly enjoyed good music, good writing, walks on the prairie, and Cornhusker football. She cherished her family, and especially looked forward to visits from her grandchildren.

She was a member of Orpheus Club of Sterling and League of Women Voters, and a volunteer at NJC Library and for Hospice.

She is survived by her sons, Scott Harmon of Polson, Mont., and Eric Harmon and his wife Sally of Lakewood; brother, Eugene Bigelow and wife Iola of Lakewood; and three grandchildren, Clayton, Wesley and Marli.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.
