Dec. 9, 1973 - May 23, 2008

Chad S. Canchola, 34, of Sterling, passed away Friday, May 23, in Sidney, Neb. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with vigil and rosary to follow. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at Chaney-Reager, with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Chad was born Dec. 9, 1973, to Michael J. and Mary Ann (Palmer) Canchola in Sterling. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1993.
He worked for Yetter Oil Field Service for eight years as a rig operator. He loved his work and family.
Chad was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend and employee. He provided for his family and children. He was deeply respected by all he met. He gave a true day's work for a true day's pay.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often teasing his nieces, nephews and children to no end.
Chad excelled in football and track and holds two track records at Sterling High School. He also excelled at bodybuilding.
When he was home, he enjoyed home-cooked meals and sharing time around the table telling stories from the day.
He enjoyed catching snakes and releasing them back. He was thrilled when storms passed through and chased them.
Chad is survived by his wife, Valerie K. Harnish of Sterling; parents, Michael and Mary Ann Canchola of Sterling; daughters, Brittany Brown of Minnetonka, Minn., Peyton Cagle and Sofia Canchola, both of Sterling; stepchildren, Nicol Harnish of Sterling and Joshua Harnish of Scottsbluff, Neb.; brother, David Canchola of Denver; sisters, Cindy Asmus and husband Doug of Sterling, Anita Canchola of Denver, Elizabeth Wilkening and husband Dan of Holyoke, Jodi Newth, and Tricia Tramp and husband Dan, all of Sterling; 10 nieces and three nephews.
Chad was respected and loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.
Chad, my love, you've left my life as quickly and suddenly as you appeared. Thank you for teaching me how to be a better person, bringing me joy, laughter, love and insight. I'll meet you on the other side, my love.
