1924 - 2008

Catherine M. Gertner, 84, of Sterling, died Sept. 21, 2008, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with vigil service and rosary to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
She was born July 27, 1924, to Joseph and Mary B. (Hirschfeld) Gertner in Iliff. She attended Sanders School. Ms. Gertner was a housekeeper at Logan County Hospital for many years.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She enjoyed praying the rosary, embroidering and house cleaning, as well as crafts, bingo and visits from relatives and friends.
Ms. Gertner is survived by her sisters, Mary Blaufuss of Olpe, Kan., Ann Loos of Ovid, Veronica Staab of Kimball, Neb., Magdalene Degenhart and husband Raymond of Greeley, Julia Loos of Ovid and Theresa Gardner and husband Melvin of Sterling; brothers, Joseph Gertner and wife Dianne of Montrose and Raymond Gertner and wife Mary of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Gertner; sister, Genevieve Kohlman; sister-in-law, Shirley Gertner; and brothers-in-law, Anthony Blaufuss, John Loos, Ed Staab and Edward Loos.
