Carolyn Ruth Kerschner, 81 of Merino, CO passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Sterling Regional MedCenter. Viewing will be held from 1 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 3 at Sunset Memorial Gardens followed by a celebration of Carolyn's life at 10:30 a.m., at First English Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard von Steinman as officiant.
Carolyn was born April 3, 1941, in Sterling, Colorado to Gottlieb Niesen and Lydia (Albrandt) Niesen. She attended the Lutheran School in Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1959. Carolyn married Paul Harold Kerschner in November of 1959. She was a farm wife and the business manager for the farm and auto body painting and repair business. She was member of First English Lutheran Church and the Ladies Guild. Carolyn loved making quilts at the church which were then donated to the Orphan Grain Train. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul in 2021 and her siblings Rosie Niesen, Edward Niesen, Elnora Schilling, Raymond Niesen, Richard Niesen, and Bernice Schledwitz.
Carolyn is survived by her son Lynn and wife Elena, daughter Brenda and husband Randy and son Scott and wife Doris; grandchildren Laura Rahman and husband Pias, Ashton Sheafor and husband Ben, Hillary Nicholson (Mike Freeman), Levi Nicholson (DeLayni Fine), Kevin Kerschner and wife Morgan and Andrew Kerschner; great grandchildren Malika Rahman, Weston Sheafor, Emmitt Sheafor and Preston Kerschner; sister Florence Falstedt and brother-in-law Glen Kerschner and wife Edith and numerous nieces and nephews.
