Carol Louan (Fleming) Fluharty Oct. 10, 1939 - Jan. 3, 2008
Carol Louan (Fleming) Fluharty, 68, passed from this life after a lengthy battle with cancer, on Thursday, Jan. 3, in Sterling. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at First Baptist Church in Sterling, with Pastor John Roberts officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Carol was born Oct. 10, 1939, to Ted and Norma (Kloepper) Fleming in Sidney, Neb. She graduated from Lorenzo High School in Lorenzo, Neb.
She married Stanley Fluharty on Oct. 28, 1957. The couple made their home north of Sterling, operating a farm and ranch. For a period of time, they also operated a greenhouse growing tomatoes and bedding plants. Last October, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Carol enjoyed machine knitting, making custom sweatshirts, and crafting. At one time, her creations could be found at the store, Prairie Crossroads, in Sterling, where she was a member. She was a Denver Broncos fan and loved spending time with her family.
Carol is survived by her husband, Stanley, of Sterling; two sons, Kurt Fluharty and wife Delberta of Joplin, Mo., and Troy Fluharty and wife Justine of Greeley; grandsons, Daniel Fluharty, and Stephen Fluharty and wife Sara of Joplin, Mo.; granddaughters, Johnna Davis and husband Neil of Tuttle, Okla., and Miranda Fluharty of Greeley; and great-grandchildren, Justin and Brianna Davis of Tuttle, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Norma Fleming.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
