Obituary
Carol Jean Duke, 79 of Sterling, passed away Sun., Sept. 25, 2016 in Sterling. Visitation will be Thurs., Sept. 29 from 1pm until 5pm with family receiving friends from 3pm until 5pm at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Fri., Sept. 30 at 11am at Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Ed Bigler III officiating.
Carol was born Dec. 17, 1936 in Sterling, CO to John William and Irene Sawdey Smith. She graduated from Merino High School in 1952.
On July 11, 1954 in Merino, CO she married R. K. Duke. She worked as a bookkeeper in a lumberyard for several years.
Carol was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she volunteered often. She enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Carol is survived by her daughter Kim Lewis and husband Ben of Tulsa, OK and son Jon Duke of Sterling, CO and granddaughter Lynelle Nichols and husband Aaron of Oklahoma City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
