Byron "Sonnie" Sonnenberg, 82, of Sterling, died Dec. 6, 2009, in Sterling. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at First Presbyterian Church with services concluding at the church. The Rev. Michelle D. Witherspoon will officiate.
He was born Nov. 14, 1927, to August A. and Lois (Rife) Sonnenberg in Sterling. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1945.
Mr. Sonnenberg farmed in the area.
On Feb. 11, 1956, he married Eileen J. Maust in Sterling.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and I.O.O.F.
He enjoyed playing cards and loved his grandchildren, farming and visiting with family and friends.
Mr. Sonnenberg is survived by his children, Steven Engleman of Littleton, Sandee Warzabluk of Colorado Springs, Mark Sonnenberg of Ireland, Albert Sonnenberg of Boise, Idaho, and Joyce Quinn of Commerce City; sisters, Iola Armour of Loveland and Elaine Tribelhorn of Sterling; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eileen Sonnenberg in April 2008; brother, Gene Sonnenberg; and sisters, Wynona Holiday and Nina Young.
