Bruce Leroy Egger, 92, of Sterling, CO, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Sterling.  Bruce's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, October 14, at Sterling Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Chris Rose officiating.  Bruce will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Julesburg at a later date.

Bruce was born at home on January 18, 1932, near Columbus, NE, to Ernst Egger and Ruby (Welch) Egger.  He married Margaret Hauder on April 23, 1950, in the Mennonite Church in Chappel, NE.  The couple made their home in Sterling, where they started Bruce Egger Masonry.  Bruce sang with the local men's Barbershop group for many years, including performances with special quartets.  His joy of singing included the men's quartet in the Nazarene church, where he sang for decades.  He and Margaret sang in duets and trios for church specials and with any willing family member at reunions.  The love for music was passed down from their families, woven into their home life, and passed on to their son Gary and his family.

Bruce was often seen peddling his bicycle down Broadway St, pool stick secured, on his way to the Heritage Center to spend an afternoon playing pool with his buddies.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret, his parents, brothers Ilon, Jerome, Robert, and sister Joyce Cannon.

Bruce is survived by his sister, Tammy Henke of Oceanside, CA, son Gary Egger and wife Jeralyn of Sterling, CO, granddaughter Radene Callicutt and husband Shane, grandson Casey Egger and wife Robin, and great-grandchildren Phoebe Callicutt Bailey and husband Thomas, Ayva Callicutt, Delaney, Amelia, and Remington Egger, all of Salem, MO.
