IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Jane
Vandagriff
August 3, 1934 – October 13, 2025
Betty Jane Vandagriff would like to let you know that her assignment here on earth is complete. Even when difficulties arose, she lived life daily..."Trusting the Lord and Enjoying the Day"! Her Merino address, as she referred to as "Thankful Street" for the past 68 plus years, has been reassigned. On October 13th, 2025, at the age of 91 she received her eternal address to which she was not about to refuse as she longed for and knew as her final destination! With family at her side, she peacefully and gracefully went "Home".
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of the genuine & abundant love of Jesus. Her contagious laughter and joy, encouragement, strength, resilience, wisdom, generosity, patience and compassion were all rooted in her unwavering faith in Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Throughout her life, her passion for sharing the Gospel and her testimony of the love of Christ spoke volumes and when necessary, she would use words. Her wisdom and insight were harvested through personal life experiences, continual prayer, the application of His Word all nurtured with a heart of obedience, expectancy and thankfulness no matter the outcome. She looked for and found God in every situation. The Fruit of The Spirit from her committed life will exponentially bear fruit for generations to come.
Betty's love and prayer for her family was beyond measure. She is survived by her Children, Leta (Butch) Gayhart of Broken Arrow, OK., Linda (Phil) Kloberdanz, Jim (Judy) Vandagriff of Sterling and Mark (Cindy) Vandagriff of Merino; grandchildren Dayan Briskey and Dyrahn Briskey, Joshua Kloberdanz (Brittany), Jami (Robert) Diaz and Jaclyn (Andrew) Blake, Jj (Amber) Vandagriff and Jason (Kelli) Vandagriff; great grandchildren Jordan, Caleb, Blake and Chloee Kloberdanz, Riam and Rhyker Diaz, and Sophie Blake, Ava Vandagriff and Trinity Vandagriff, Kennedy Vandagriff and twin brother's Kyler and Aiden Vandagriff, Michael (Nicole) Horner, Shannon Horner and Lynette Horner and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born August 3, 1934, to Charles J. Mitchek and Martha Gentz-Mitchek in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. Betty was the last living of this union and preceded in death by her parents, Sister's Lila Maxwell and Vera Cohea, Brother's Charles Jr., Dale, Ervin, Allen and Milton Mitchek.
Over 69 years ago Betty began praying and believing that God would bring her and her growing family to a place she could call home as she raised her growing family. She desired a location where she could actually walk to church knowing this was going to be a lifeline for her family and for her remaining days...prayer answered. She found herself in Merino and became a faithful servant to her Spiritual Family at Faith Tabernacle Church. Betty loved you all dearly and knew she was loved in return. Special thank you to Bonnie Kirschbaum for being such a loyal, devoted and loving friend and Sister in Christ to Mom over the years. Our family will forever be grateful for your years of special 'in-home' care, allowing Mom to remain at home until she was no longer able.
Thank you, Mom, for always being there for us, teaching us how to love, laugh and live, how to work hard and give much, for listening to us and always living by example, paving a way for us and so many others. You were beyond amazing, and we were blessed to have you as our mother. Our family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, calls, condolences and visits during this difficult time. We are grateful for the love, support and memories shared by everyone who loved her. Thanks especially for visits to see Mom! She loved and appreciated the outpouring of thoughtfulness and time. Thank you to the staff and administration at Devonshire Acres for your care and compassion for Mom. Her Spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
There will be no funeral to mourn her loss, but instead upon your every remembrance of Betty, let that be a joyful celebration, an honor to her and a life beautifully lived. Let us rejoice in knowing she is now in the presence of her Savior. (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
