Betty J. Seifried
June 14, 1922 - March 9, 2008

Betty J. Seifried, 85, of Sterling, passed away March 9, 2008, in Sterling. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Michelle Witherspoon officiating. Inurnment will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Stoneham.

Betty was born June 14, 1922, to Rueben and Edna (Bartran) Sandstedt in Stoneham. She graduated from high school.

She married Eugene Uphoff. He passed away in 1963.

While living in Englewood, Betty worked as a supervisor in the Real Estate Mortgage Department of a bank for 17 years. In 1980, she was named Professional Banker of the Year, and in 1984, she was named Woman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women's Organization. After retiring, she returned to Sterling in 1985. She was a senior loan officer at Wells Fargo Bank.

On May 8, 1991, Betty married Harold W. Seifried in Sterling. Harold passed away in 2001.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and was very active in the church. She was a driver for Meals on Wheels and worked part-time as a greeter at Wal-Mart.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Nancy Bishop and husband Kenneth of Bosque Farms, N.M., and Cheri Burnell and husband Jerry of Loveland; brothers, Dr. Lynn Sandstedt and wife Phyllis of Greeley, and Dr. Van Sandstedt and wife Shirley of Hastings, Neb.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Neil Sandstedt; and grandsons, Gregory Forbes and Michael Forbes.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
