Betty Elinor Schierholz, 81 of Sterling, peacefully entered eternal life in heaven, Fri., April 15, 2016 in Sterling. Memorial service will be Tues., April 19 at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. James R. Nash officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
Betty was born Oct. 1, 1934 in Garnavillo, Iowa to NeValle and Catherine Aulwes Flagel. She graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1952 and continued her education for one year at the Bayless Business College at Dubuque, Iowa.
She married Orville J. Schierholz April 14, 1956 in Garnavillo, Iowa. They moved to Sterling, CO from Helena, Montana in 1966. In 1979 they moved to Craig, CO, returning to Sterling in 1997. Betty was office manager for C. R. Anthony Department Store from 1961 until her retirement in 1997.
Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild and a Bible Study Group at the church. She enjoyed crochet and needlework and reading.
Betty is survived by her husband Orville J. Schierholz of Sterling, sons Brad Schierholz of Sidney, NE and Kevin Schierholz and wife Rhonda of Sterling, sister Jean Ryan of Cooper City, Florida, sister-in-law Kathy Dittmer and husband Marty of Iowa Falls, Iowa, grandchildren Collin Shanks and wife Hwan Suk and their son Noah Shanks of Amarillo, TX, Chad Shanks and wife Angie of Gillette, WY, and Jared Schierholz of Sterling and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents NeValle and Catherine Flagel.
