Bernice A. Zalesky, 89, of Sterling, died May 20, 2007, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with a vigil service and rosary following at 7. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. James Baird officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, Neb.
Mrs. Zalesky was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Sidney to Matt and Agnes (Mikklesen) Trienen. She graduated in 1935 from St. Patrick's Academy in Sidney. After graduation, she worked at the Ben Franklin store in Sidney for 10 years.
On June 4, 1940, she married Arlie Zalesky at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney. She operated the Stanley Home Products for seven years. She was active in a bowling league for five years.
The family moved to Sterling in 1960, and she worked at Laura's Fabrics for 10 years. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was active in St. Bernadette's Circle.
Mrs. Zalesky is survived by her sons, Ron Zalesky of Santa Fe, N.M., Randy Zalesky and wife Tina of Mead, and Steve Zalesky of Sterling; and three grandchildren, Samuel, Blaze and Jennessa Zalesky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlie Zalesky in 1989; and eight brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
