Bernard "Bernie" Hradecky, 77, of Sterling, passed away March 5, 2012, in Sterling. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jared Sonnenberg officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Bernie was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Fleming to James Frank and Merle Rebecca (Horner) Hradecky.

He was a truck driver in the oil field business.

On Aug. 28, 1973, he married Laura D. McGuffey in Gillette, Wyo.

Bernie enjoyed fishing and camping and was a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Hradecky of Sterling; children, Laura and Greg Schmidt of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Audrey Mix and Joseph Solano of Sterling, James and Kevin Dorsett of Atwood, Earl Dorsett Sterling, Judy and Clint Petersen of Sidney, Neb., Peggy and Rod Stettner of Sidney, Neb., Robert and Deborah Hradecky of Sterling, Alvin and Kelly Hradecky of Los Angeles, James Hradecky of Lincoln, Neb., Bernard Hradecky III of Peetz, Tim and Sandy Bruce of Austin; sister, Barb Szymblowski of Sterling; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Sanders; brothers, Albert, Willie and Alfred Hradecky; daughters, Brenda Davis, Tina Marie Hradecky, Peggy Sue Hradecky; and son, Bernard Hradecky II.
