Bergie K. Worthley
1918 - 2009

Bergie K. Worthley, 90, of Sterling, died Feb. 28, 2009, in Sterling. It was the anniversary of his late wife Alice's birth. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at First Christian Church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Worthley was born April 12, 1918, to Albert and Florence (Hill) Worthley in Fleming. He attended school through the eighth grade, then went to work to help his family and invalid mother.
He was drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served aboard the USS Collinsworth. He was discharged in 1946.
Mr. Worthley worked as a mechanic and co-owned the B & W Service Garage and later worked for Holloways. After retiring, he worked for Sterling Auto Sales as a driver.
He was a member of the Colorado Civilian Conservation Corp and the Nazarene Church.
Mr. Worthley is survived by his daughters, Nola Haynes of Ordway, Connie Harms and husband Bob of Lander, Wyo., and Faunie Parker and husband Jim of Centennial; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-granchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, including Luella Headley of Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Alice Worthley; parents; five brothers; two sisters; and son-in-law, Gene Haynes.
