Benny Sanchez Benny Sanchez, 77, of Sterling, passed away Feb. 25, 2012, in Sterling. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Christ United Methodist Church, with services concluding at the church.
Benny was born Feb. 22, 1935, in Mora, N.M., to Estanislado and Jaunita (Garcia) Sanchez. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1953.
He worked at Sixth Street Food Stores for 43 years in North Platte and Kearney, Neb., and Sterling. He moved to Sterling in 1997.
On May 17, 1985, Benny married Janet Whyman Miller in Sterling.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Methodist Church Choir and Men's Club.
He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Benny is survived by his wife, Janet Sanchez of Sterling; daughter, Debra Sanchez of Washington state; step-daughters, Linda Humphrey and husband Ron of Elkhorn, Neb., and Gail Quellhorst and husband Ben of Gooding, Idaho; step-son, Gary Miller and wife Deanie of Atwood; brother, Joe Sanchez and wife Trish of Arvada; sisters, Marg Clow of Washington state, Pricilla Kimitch and husband Dave of Denver, Lita Adams and husband Charles of Lakewood; brother-in-law, Larry Whyman and wife Dee of Sonoma, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Johnson and husband Duane of Hastings, Neb., Sharon Clement and husband Don of Phoenix; eight grandchidlren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation in lieu of flowers.
