Barbara A. Mathis, 69 of Sterling passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at her home. A celebration of life party will take place on her 1 year anniversary of her passing in July 2019.

Barbara was born March 15, 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska to Charles Edward and Roberta Hansella Slauson Boyer. She attended college in La Junta, Colorado at Otero Junior College. She worked for the Denver Parks and Recreation for eight years as a purchasing/contract administrator.

Barbara enjoyed crosswords, bird watching, nature, listening to music, drinking coffee and spending time with her grandbabies, her daughter and her best friends. She was a member of MENSA International. Barbara was the most amazing mother, friend and confident beautiful person.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roberta and Charles; grandparents, Dolly Marietta Slauson and Willis Slauson.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Julie Sorg of Sterling; son-in-law Tom Gonzales of Sterling; adopted daughter, Cheyleine Moseley of Salina, Kansas; granddaughter Jayme Gonzales-Fox of Box Elder, SD; grandson-in-law Zach Fox; granddaughter Katie Gonzales-King; grandson-in-law Christopher King; best friend Michael Campbell; great-grand-daughter Gabriella King; and great- grandson Silas King all of Sterling; brother Willis Boyer of Missoula, MT and best friend Becky Cooper of Springfield, MO.
