Ashley Lynn Mendez, 22 of Sterling passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of life will be held for Ashley at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 480 W. Logan St., Sterling, CO with Pastor Justin Steimer officiating. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion.
Ashley was born on August 3, 1994 in Sterling, CO to John A. Mendez and Sunnie C. Stewart. She graduated from Greeley Central High School and started attending classes at NJC. She worked at Taco Johns and the Concession Stand at NJC. She enjoyed baking, reading, coloring, shooting, Nascar racing, and watching her favorite team, the New England Patriots play football. But most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She was able to go on many adventures in her last few years. She traveled to Yellowstone National Park with her Aunt Jimi, Uncle Mike and Cousin Ryan. Mike and Terri Nelson helped her travel to Germany to spend some time with her best friend Brigitte, Jacob and God Daughter Elody Oster. Her Uncle Matthew and Aunt Kristen were able to take her on many adventures in California. She loved her family and spending time with them.
Ashley is survived by her father John Mendez and wife Trudie of Sterling; mother Sunnie C. Stewart and Jesse Runyon of Ault, CO; brothers and sisters, Amanda Mendez and Nate Klein of Sterling, Anthony and Kelli Mendez of Manitowoc, WI, Hannah Nelson and Keean Nelson of Sterling, Hailey Partlow, Brendan Partlow of Ault, CO, Niki Browner and Adrian Barron of Sterling, Andrew Browner of Alliance, NE, Raymond and Terra Schreiner of Ft. Morgan, and Ronda and Scott Schreiner-Larrick of Ft. Morgan; Aunts and uncles, AJ and Gina Sayers of Denver, CO, Mike and Jimi Ruff of Sterling, and Matthew and Kristen Stewart of Laramie, WY; grandparents, Rudy and Anna Mendez of Sterling and Terry Stewart of Eaton, CO; God Daughter Elody Oster and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, great aunts and uncles.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Jim Stewart.
