Arthur Daniel "Butch" Motes, 54, of Otis, died June 8, 2008, in Yuma. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz, followed by Mass of Christian Burial, with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Inurnment will be at Christian Cemetery in Crook.
Mr. Motes was born Aug. 13, 1953, to Jim W. and Barbara A. (Brandt) Motes in Brighton. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Denver in 1971.
Four years ago, he moved from Denver to Otis. He worked for STC Trucking in Holyoke as an over-the-road trucker.
Mr. Motes was a member of the Catholic church. He was a carpenter and welder and enjoyed using his artistic abilities building multiple structures.
He is survived by his wife, Helen E. Heidbrider of Otis; mother, Barbara A. Motes of Iliff; sons, Fred A. Motes and Daniel J. Motes of Stockton, Kan.; daughters, Jo Ann R. Sanders, and LaVena C. Olson and husband Eric G., all of Golden; stepchildren, Chad A. Jackson of Las Vegas, John E. Jackson and Christina M. Jackson, both of Golden, and Frederic C. Barbis II of Otis; nine grandchildren; one niece; one great-niece; and three great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Motes, in June 2007; sister, Marie Bradford in October 2004; and niece, Linda Bradford in May 1997.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
