Arnold "Arnie" Gemaehlich, 68, of Sterling, died Dec. 21, 2010, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, with family receiving friends until 3 p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eugene Zeller officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military rites.

Mr. Gemaehlich was born Aug. 21, 1942, in Otis to Herman Henry and Helen Marie (Diericks) Gemaehlich. He graduated from Lone Star High School in 1960 and continued his education another year.

He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army from 1966 until his discharge in 1968.

He worked for Skylyne Machine and Sterling Machine. He also drove for County Express for several years.

On Nov. 20, 1970, he married Carol Ann Culip in Sterling.

Mr. Gemaehlich was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post. No. 3541. He enjoyed leathercraft and loved to work with his hands.

He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Gemaehlich of Sterling; sons, Allen Gemaehlich and wife Tammy of Grand Junction, Curtis Gemaehlich and wife Jennifer of Denver, Brian Gemaehlich and wife Erin of Sterling; sisters, LaVaughn Bresnahan of Cheyenne, Wyo., Linda Koehler of Sterling; brothers, Don Gemaehlich of Otis, Vern Gemaehlich of Atwood, Norman Gemaehlich of Leroy, Marvin Gemaehlich of Cheyenne, Wyo., Ron Gemaehlich of Greeley; grandchildren, Adam, Emily, Conner, Samantha; and step-grandchildren, Jon and Kevin Fitzpatrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Charles.
