Edith Arlene Loos, 92 of Sterling passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at her home. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 27 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Fri., Sept. 28 at the Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jeff Calvert officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Arlene was born May 5, 1926 in Shelbyville, Illinois to Sidney Clyde and Lela (Breckenridge) Calvert. Arlene attended schools at New Haven and graduated from Fleming High School. She married Bernard "Sandy" M. Loos December 16, 1944 in St. Francis, Kansas. Arlene worked at a telephone office and as a school teacher while Bernard was in the Army. After Bernard returned, they made their home on the family farm. Arlene loved being on the farm and enjoyed having family and friends come over for visits. She loved caring for her garden and flowers. Arlene was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed crocheting and golfing. She was a longtime member of the Sterling Church of the Nazarene.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bernard in 2012, a son and two brothers.
Arlene is survived by her son, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
