Archie Oliver Plog, 88, of Fleming, passed away Aug. 15, 2013, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Chaney-Reager, with Pastor Sharon Strauss and Pastor Jodie Harless officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Archie was born Aug. 13, 1925, in Fleming to Orville Herman and Ruth Sarah (Carey) Plog. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1943 and entered the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged.
Archie worked at the Great Western Sugar Factory.
On Sept. 5, 1947, he married Ethel Mae Hagemeier in New Haven.
He was a member of LeRoy United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, playing cards and gardening.
Archie is survived by his children, Dr. T.L. Plog of Oshkosh, Neb., Tracy A. Plog and wife Sue of Brighton and Tara Plog of Fleming; brother, Eldon Ploge of Ennis, Texas; sisters, Willa Rae Wareheim of Greeley and Jean Kyle of Sterling; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel Plog in 2011; sons, Tommy Plog and Ted Plog; two sisters; and one brother.
