Anna Maria "Annie" Mendez, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 15, at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager Funeral Home & Crematory in Sterling, CO. The service will conclude at the chapel.

She was a longtime resident of Sterling, CO. Annie was born in San Antonio, TX, on June 7, 1946, to Enrigue Ramos Hernandez and Christina Arellano. Annie was a manager for McDonald's in Sterling and worked for 30 plus years. She also worked for Logan County Hospital. She loved to cook delicious food for family and friends, caring for family members and watching Hallmark movies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo Mendez; parents, Enrique and Christina Hernandez; sisters, Carmen Vick, Olivia Hernandez and Mary Hernandez; and granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Mendez.

Annie is survived by her children, Virginia Sayers and John Mendez; siblings, Henry Hernandez, Gloria Walker and Jovita Gutierrez; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
