Anna Marie McAllister, of Sterling Colorado, died peacefully in Greeley Colorado, with family by her side, on July 13, 2015 several days before her 94th birthday.
Anna was buried in Russell, KS beside her husband, Everett and son, Larry on July15, 2015. A Memorial service will be held on Sat. Aug. 1, 2015 at 10:30am at the Christ United Methodist Church in Sterling CO. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Anna McAllister Memorial Fund.
Anna was born July 16, 1921 in Waldo, Kansas. She was one of five children, the daughter of James and Edith Crosby Bean. Anna attended Waldo Elementary and Waldo High School. After graduating in 1938 she attended Salina Business College in Salina, Kansas. She married Everett Lee McAllister of Russell, Kansas on September 29, 1940 and were the parents of Richard, Darrell, Maggie and Larry. They moved to Sterling in 1952 with the first oil boom. They moved 6 miles west of Peetz in 1957 and just south of Padroni in 1964. They resided at that location until Everett became ill, requiring them to move back to Sterling in 1977. Everett passed away in July, 1978.
Anna was devoted to her family always doing things for them and with them. She instilled in her family the values of God, love of family, hard work, commitment, and giving back to community. She not only loved helping her own kids but also other's, she was a Den Mother, Scout leader, 4H leader, and Sunday School Teacher.
Anna also served as a community volunteer through various organizations. She was a Charter Member and Past President of VFW in Russell Kansas and Sterling CO. A Past President of the Colorado Rebecca's organization in Peetz. CO. She was a Past Regent of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) in Sterling, CO. She was involved in Sterling with the Humanity Club, AARP, and Wonder Club of the Methodist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper at the BlueBird Truck Stop and then worked 17 years at the Colorado Health Department in Sterling, CO.
One of her many life joys was attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, friends and church; making lots of pies, banana bread, cookies, angel food cakes and noodles. . She also loved to crochet, joyfully making many items for family and the Church Bazaar. She was so talented with her hands and crafted many things from afghans, to angels, to doll clothes, to beautiful greeting cards.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Everett; infant son, Larry; Son-in-Law Kerry Kilmer; Sisters, Evelyn, Margaret, and Arbel; and brother, Emmet.
Survivors are her three children Richard McAllister and wife Jacquie Mashpee MA, Darrell McAllister and wife Connee of Loveland, CO, and Maggie Kilmer of Willard CO.
Grandchildren: Amy McAllister (Luigi) Cappello, Gregg McAllister, Matt (Beth) Kilmer, and Kim Killmer (Mark) Torleumke. Step Grand Children, Robert (Katie) Runnells, Tristan Runnells (Dan) Barbatinni , Courtney Runnells (Dave) Maren and 10 great grandchildren.
