Anna B. Crooks, 94, of Sterling, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, in Sterling. Vigil and Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. There was cremation. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Crooks was born Feb. 11, 1914, to John and Susan Marie (Spahn) Sommers in Denver.

On Dec. 16, 1944, she married James Howard Crooks in Sidney, Neb. She worked at NJC as a cook for several years.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Margaret's Circle and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilt making, sewing, knitting and crocheting and various craft projects. She was living at the Legacy at the time of her death.

Mrs. Crooks is survived by her son, Robert J. Sommers and wife Connie of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; daughter, Dolores Unrein and husband Elmer A. of Mountain Home, Idaho; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Crooks in 1964; four sisters; and four brothers.
