Ann Lou (Harrison) Smith, 83 passed away Friday, January 27, 2023. A celebration of Ann's life will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, February 26 at Faith United Methodist Church.
Ann was born at home in a small house on a farm around Polo, MO. Where she weighed in at 2 ½ lbs. She went 12 years to Elementary and Highschool of Polo, MO and graduated in 1957 from Polo High School. Ann moved to Excelsior Springs, MO after graduation. She worked at the Elms Hotel in Excelsior Springs, which is where she met Bud Rupe (Alzie Antonia) which they married in 1958 and moved to Colorado in 1959. Ann and Bud lived around the Ft. Collins and Wellington area. They also adopted a daughter in 1962, Florence Marie. They were later divorced and years later Ann married Oliver Smith from Wellington CO.
Ann loved animals; in her teen years she owned a filly colt which she trained an broke to ride herself. When she lived in Wellington CO, she raised and trained Grey Hounds, then later got into raising alpacas. She had numerous jobs throughout the years that she lived in Ft. Collins. She worked for The Coloradoan News Paper which she retired from there approximately 2010. In 2015, she moved to Sterling CO where she lived until her death in Jan. 2023.
Her Motto was "Missouri was a good place to be from."
She was preceded in death by parents John and Sarah Harrison of Wellington, CO; two Brothers Neal Harrison of Forsyth, MO and Rex Lee Harrison of Polo, MO and one Brother-in-Law James Peoples of Rayville, MO.
Ann is survived by her daughter Florence (Mike) Horn of Walsenburg, CO; two brothers Jack Harrison (Eleanor) of Forsyth, MO and Terry Shaw of Denver, CO; sister Diane Peoples of Rayville, MO; sister-in-law Bonnie Harrison of Forsyth, MO; grandson Scott Moen and great granddaughter Michaela Christene Moen and her Dachshund Spook.
