Obituary

Ann Marie Smith was born on Feb. 4, 1926, in Buffalo Gap, Texas, to George and Victoria Thornton. She went home on March 1, 2013 from Sterling. A Memorial service will be held at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, with a family burial immediately following.

Her early childhood was spent in Abilene, Texas with her parents and siblings where she enjoyed fishing with her mother, Victoria, and spending time with family.

Ann met and married Glenn Hansen in 1943 while he was stationed at the army base in Taylor County Texas prior to his deployment during World War II. To this union, two children were born: Barbara Ann and Stephen Glenn. After the war, the family moved to Wray, where they resided until 1956. They relocated to Sterling, living there for nine years prior to their separation.

In 1969, Ann met and married the love of her life, Warren T. Smith. They spent many happy years together traveling, golfing, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Ann especially enjoyed working in her garden and was proud of her art work.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Johnson and husband Charles of Akron; son, Stephen Hansen and wife Debbie of Florence, Ariz.; grandchildren, Teresa Traxler and husband Corey of Akron, Gordon Johnson of Brighton, Connor Hansen of Golden, Debbi Smith of Longmont, Andi Smith of Salt Lake, Utah, Craig Smith of Denver, Dusty Allen and wife Chrissy of Loveland, and Brady Allen of New York City; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Justin Traxler, Kendra and Koral Johnson, Alexandra and Christiana Smith, and Logan and Parker Allen.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents; one brother and two sisters; and her loving husband, Warren.
