Obituary
Anita Louise Puentes, 64, of Sterling, died Dec. 25, 2010, in Aurora. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 230 Lincoln, Sterling, with Pastor Rene Lopez officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
She was born May 27, 1946, in Yuma, to William Powell Jr. and Waunetta N. (Turnbull) Powell. She graduated from Yuma High School and continued her education for a few years.
She has lived in the Sterling area for more than 15 years. She worked at Sterling Regional MedCenter as a cook for five years.
Ms. Puentes enjoyed doing craft projects.
She is survived by her mother, Waunetta West and husband Alvin of Iliff; daughters, Sheila Gutierrez and husband Joe and Tara Gomez, all of Colorado; son, Miguel Orozco and fiance Jerrica of Colorado; sisters, Diana Norris and husband Keith of Florida, Pam Chilcott and husband Ed of Puerto Rico; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Powell Jr.; brother, Perry Powell; sister, Stacey Powell; daughter, Stacey Sass; and grandparents.
Memorials may be made to Tara Gomez in memory of Anita Puentes.
