Angelina Virginia Kerschner, 88, of Merino, died Nov. 12, 2008, in Sterling. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Kerschner was born May 29, 1920, to Joseph and Catherine Santomaso in Sterling. She attended Pawnee Valley School.
On Jan. 14, 1942, she married Kenneth Kerschner in Sidney, Neb. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband north of Willard for 61 years.
Mrs. Kerschner was an avid gardener, of both vegetables and flowers, and especially enjoyed geraniums that she received from family members. She loved tending to her farm animals and watching all migratory birds that traveled through her area.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. Providing for her children's education was a top priority.
Mrs. Kerschner is survived by daughter, Leona Cavin and husband Bob; son, Ron Kerschner and wife Judy; sister, Mary Kerschner; brother, John Santomaso; grandchildren, Veronica Thompson and husband Robert, Jean Cavin, Carolyn Sestak and husband Scott, Barbara McDowell and husband Mike, Russell Kerschner and wife Brandi; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth Kerschner; father, Joseph Santomaso; mother, Catherine Santomaso; and sister, Antonette Leachman.
