Obituary

Alfred Henry Davis, 91, of Sterling, passed away July 23, 2013, in Sterling. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Evangelical Lutheran Society, Bonell Community, Borgman Chapel, 708 22nd St., Greeley. Interment will be at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, at Fort Logan National Cemetery Staging Area C in Denver.

Alfred was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Lawn, W.V., to Henry Washington and Victoria (Bryant) Davis. He entered the U.S. Army in October 1942. He landed in Oran, North Africa, in early 1943 and through 1945, served in South Italy and then Austria. He was discharged in December 1945 and received the Bronze Star.

Alfred was a contractor in the painting business.

He married Margaret Ida May Anson in Denver.

He moved to Sterling from Denver five years ago.

Alfred is survived by his daughter, Victoria Wood and husband Jerry of Greeley; sons, Clinton Davis of Sterling, Clayton Davis of Loveland, and Clifford Davis and wife Debbie of Pinewood Springs; brothers, Joe Davis and wife Reba of West Virginia, Tom Davis and wife Hilda of West Virginia; sister, Ida Cox of West Virginia; special friend, Linda Harnish of Montrose; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; wife, Margaret Davis; son, William Davis; and daughter, Mildred Davis.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Plains or Sterling Regional MedCenter.
